JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The state department of economic development announced on Wednesday that it's donating millions of dollars to assistance programs across the state. It includes programs in Mid-Missouri as well.
In all, the department is spreading out $7.3 million from the neighborhood assistance program to more than three dozen development projects.
Four of the projects affect Mid-Missouri residents:
- Missouri Girls Town Foundation - The Kingdom City program was given funding to start aftercare services to help girls who have been abused or neglected to transition back to society.
- Boys & Girls Club of Central Missouri - The Sedalia program received funding for after school youth enrichment for at-risk children 6-18 years of age in Cole Camp, La Monte, Smithton.
- Citizens Against Domestic Violence - The domestic violence shelter in Camdenton received funding to expand its facility so it can reach more clients.
- Job Point - Funding was given to the Columbia facility for a new air conditioning unit, remodeled bathrooms, energy-efficient lighting, fire sprinklers.
According to the release from the state department, organizations are receiving funding by providing partial state tax credits to businesses that make contributions to approved community improvement projects.
