PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) Area cities and counties will continue to provide affordable housing assistance and projects for eligible residents.
Late last week, HUD announced more than $356,000 for the city of Parkersburg, and $358,000 for Jackson County for their public housing capital funds.
Those are for construction, repairs and renovation of public housing.
Parkersburg also gets $351,000 in HOME grants.
"The HOME Program, while it receives less funding, is dedicated just to housing activities," says Ryan Barber, Development Projects Administrator for the city of Parkersburg. "We do a number of homeowner rehab programs in the city, as well as first-time buyer programs, and we can also do rental assistance programs with HOME money."
The cities of Parkersburg and Vienna also have received their Community Development Block Grant funds for this year.
Parkersburg gets $900,000, while $107,000 goes to Vienna.
