Vice-Mayor elaborates on a proposed expansion of an Emergency Assistance Program | NewsRadio WINA - WINA AM 1070

(CHARLOTTESVILLE – WINA)   The Vice-Mayor of Charlottesville calls a decision to funnel some of the city’s latest surplus into an Emergency Assistance Program an investment in the future.   Sena Magill told WINA’s Morning News on Thursday not helping someone now could result in having to spend a lot of money helping someone in the future.

The assistance program can help someone to pay a month’s rent or his or her utilities.   Magill cites a study that showed that one person who went homeless and needed services cost the city roughly $600,000-a-year.
