Energy assistance being offered to low income households - week.com

PEORIA (WEEK) -- The Peoria Citizen's Committee for Economic Opportunity's low income home energy assistance program is here to help you through the rest of these cold winter days and nights.

For over 20 years PCCEO has been able to provide assistance for low-income households in Peoria County.

From October 1 to May 31, the program is anticipating to assist 7,000 to 8,000 applicants based on their income and number of people in their household.

LIHEAP manager Anisha Hughes says they try to accept at least 1,000 applicants a month.

The number of applicants that can be chosen is based upon the amount of funding PCCEO receives from Congress, said Hughes. So far, they have been able to assist 90% of applicants since the process began in October.

For guidelines to apply and how to visit, www.pcceo.org. The application process will remain open until May 31.
