The U.S. Small Business Administration is ready to give small business owners assistance at a resource center in Hancock County.
The recent effects of the toxic algae bloom took a toll on small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in South Mississippi when tourism is usually at its peak. Therefore the SBA is offering assistance with one on one help going through the application process and answering any questions you may have.
You may borrow up to $2 million for the loan and interest rates are four percent for small businesses and 2.75 percent for nonprofits. Coastal Mississippi Board of Directors President Nikki Moon said, “Every little town has these great small businesses, shops, restaurants, and local arts. For these folks to survive, these loans are just an amazing resource. I encourage everybody to get in touch with SBA so they can stay afloat so we can keep our Coast as special as it’s always been.”
Now the SBA also had disaster assistance programs at resource centers in Harrison and Jackson County, but the last day for one on one help is today at 6 p.m.
The program in Hancock County ends February 12th. If you can’t make it to the resource centers you have until October 16th to apply for the disaster loan.
