MONTPELIER, VT — The City of Montpelier’s Social and Economic Justice Advisory Committee seeks bids from consultants to develop and implement a series of community workshops, trainings, and an Action Plan addressing social and economic justice for the city of Montpelier.
Our country, state, and community were built on systems and structures that perpetuate racism, sexism, heterosexism, classism, ableism, and other forms of injustice and oppression. The City Council established the Montpelier Social and Economic Justice Advisory Committee because we know this history has real ramifications for all of us living in Montpelier now, and these oppressions continue as a daily struggle for many in our city.
The Social and Economic Justice Advisory Committee is looking for a consultant who can help us clearly see the structural barriers that face many who live in or want to live in Montpelier. We want someone who can help us tear down those barriers and help us make a plan to build a path toward a more just and equitable city. In the larger system of oppression, we want to see what’s happening in Montpelier and what we can do about it.
The City is seeking bids to assist in developing and implementing a series of community and organizational workshops and conversations. The proposal guidelines are flexible, as the Committee behind the RFP recognizes that it is important for experts to guide this process, and that bids may have a different structure than what is laid out in the proposal.
We want to encourage people who are interested in submitting their proposal to send in their questions. Applicants can submit questions by February 14th, and those who want to call in can also join the Committee 9-10am on the morning of February 19th. All questions will be responded to by February 28th.
