PUEBLO — A victim assistance unit in Pueblo needs help.
A Community Organization for Victim Assistance, or ACOVA, is short staffed.
The group responds to about 400 calls each year and helps victims of domestic violence, suicide, and a number of other emergencies in teh city and county of Pueblo.
"We are there with what could possibly be the worst day of their life and we are there to make sure they know their rights as a victim, but more importantly they are aware of resources in their community that are going to help them with this traumatic event," said Jennifer Chavez.
The majority of those working with ACOVA are volunteers.
If you would like to ACOVA, contact the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
