(WBNG) -- The United Way of Broome County is offering a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) for those who qualify.
If individuals earn less than $66,000, they may be eligible to have their tax returns filed for free and qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The United Way of Broome County provides low-income residents with free tax preparation assistance to help them maximize available credits and receive tax refunds. Last year, they mobilized volunteers to prepare over 1,540 returns.
To see if you qualify for free income tax services, call 211 or 1-800-2180 to schedule an appointment. Sites are open February 3, 2020 through April 2, 2020.
