This is the time of year where some start to struggle with their heating and utility bills.
Members of The Salvation Army are reminding people they can offer a helping hand if you start to fall behind or face a shut-off.
They say the first place you should go is DHHS, which they work closely with.
Brian Jergenson, the service center manager of the Salvation Army in Gaylord, says it’s best not to wait until the last minute to ask for help.
“We’re that safety net, per say, and we know that in Northern Michigan it can get expensive to heat your home, to keep your electricity on, and if you’re struggling with that give us a call. We’ll put you in the right resources, we’ll put you in the right direction,” Jergenson said.
