NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Teams with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are working in areas affected by last week's tornadoes.
Taking to Davidson, Putnam and Wilson Counties, the FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will help survivors register for assistance, identify and address potential needs and make connections with local, state, federal and voluntary agencies with the resources to help them.
In addition to registering survivors for disaster assistance and making referrals to agency partners, the FEMA staff can also update survivors' records.
During the registration process, specialists will ask for some personal information, including social security number, annual income and bank information, as well as the names of any occupants of impacted property.
FEMA field personnel can be identified by their photo ID's and the FEMA logo on their shirts. Residents seeking aid are encouraged to ask for official identification before they provide any personal information.
Survivors may also apply for assistance by visiting FEMA's disaster assistance website, or by calling (800) 621-3362 or (800) 462-7585 for TTY users. Both numbers are open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. local time for seven days a week.
