Comcast, Ameren respond to Coronavirus with bill assistance, more - week.com

(WEEK) -- Ameren Illinois and Comcast are taking steps to help customers as the Coronavirus pandemic continues.

The energy company is suspending service disconnections as well as forgiving late payment fees for non-payment through at least May 1.

"The COVID-19 pandemic may result in lost income for some of our customers, particularly the most vulnerable," said chairman and president Richard J. Marks. "We want all our customers to have peace of mind that they will have energy service as we navigate through this unprecedented situation.

Customers needing help with their bill are asked to go to AmerenIllinois.com and contact customer care.

Comcast is also offering relief -- suspending disconnects and not assessing late fees if customers contact them.

The telecommunications company is also opening up their network of Xfinity WiFi for anyone, for free.
