McDonald's, Ivy Tech announce tuition assistance partnership | Schools | Journal Gazette - Fort Wayne Journal Gazette

As workers filled orders at the McDonald's along St. Joe Center Road this morning, restaurant and Ivy Tech Community College officials announced a partnership that could make it easier for those employees to access higher education.

Through McDonald's Archways to Opportunity program, employees who work at least 90 days at 15 hours a week will be eligible for tuition assistance of up to $2,500 annually as a crew member and up to $3,000 annually as a manager.

Ivy Tech will offer support with counseling and planning. The college will also review prospective students' workplace training and experiences for potential college credits.

It's not unusual for employers to offer tuition assistance programs, but those often involve employers sending workers back to school for additional certifications, said Jerrilee Mosier, chancellor of Ivy Tech Fort Wayne.

If Mosier were a high school student, she said, "I would be exploring this opportunity."
