BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One local kid is working to make a different to the people and animals around her.

Avery Perry has volunteered on several projects recently to help others and right now she is hosting a donation drive to help local pets called Santa Paws.

Just days ago, she volunteered to help her father purchase toys for children in need during Shop with a Cop and said she had so much fun.

Working with the Beta Club, she also helped wrap gifts for local seniors for Christmas.

This 6th grader has started her own donation drive to collect supplies for the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society and her school, Alvaton Elementary, is helping her spread the word.

“I just I really love helping people and animals. I grew up around animals. I just love animals. I want to become a vet someday so, I just, animals are my best friend. I have, I want to say, five at home,” said Avery.

The shelter is in need of several items, but bleach, paper towels and non-clumping litter are always appreciated.

Avery’s Santa Paws donation event ends December 17th.
