CANYON, Texas Western Colorado couldn't get much going in game one of the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, shooting 31 percent from the floor against Southwestern Oklahoma State University's 48% afternoon, resulting in the Bulldogs taking an 88-54 win in the opener of the two-day tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountaineers took an early 6-0 lead to start the game on three pointers from Grace Kirscher and Ky Buell.
- The Bulldogs responded with a 14-4 run to take the lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the quarter and lead 22-15 after the first.
- Southwestern Okla. State duplicated their scoring output from the first quarter, while the Mountaineers offense improved by two-points, scoring 17 points in the second quarter.
- Kirscher led the way for the Mountaineers in the second quarter scoring seven-points and had help from Alexa Huff and Anda Kuzmina, who pitched in with 6 and 4 points of their own.
- The Bulldogs offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the third quarter resulting in, them making 56.3% of their shots taken in the quarter and having a 65-44 lead heading into the fourth.
- Not much changed for Southwestern Okla. State on the offense side of things, leading to them scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter and coming away with the victory.
- The Mountaineers offense cooled off in the second half, as they scored 12 points in the third quarter and 10 points in the fourth.
- Kirscher and Huff were the leading scores for the Mountaineers against the Bulldogs, scoring 14 and 10 points apiece.
- Southwestern Okla. State had three starters and their sixth women off the bench in double figures.
- The Mountaineers were decent from the free throw line making 14-of-19 from the line. Unfortunately, that was the only category Western had the advantage in.
- The Bulldogs made 48% of their shots from the field, 34% from the three-point line and capitalized on the Mountaineers turnovers scoring 23 points.
- Western on the other hand shot 31% from the field, 24% from the three-point line and was only able to score 7-points off Southwestern Okla. State turnovers.
- The Mountaineers had 16 turnovers to the Bulldogs 9 and gave up 19 second chance points, while only having 2 second chance points of their own.
Western will be back on the court tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. MST, taking on host West Texas A&M University in the final day of the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic.
