ECI Training & Technical Assistance | Texas Health and Human Services - Texas Health and Human Services |

ECI provides orientation and in-service professional development and technical assistance to early childhood intervention providers across the state of Texas.

ECI requires a three-part orientation for all new employees:

  • Making It Work or Making It Work for Therapists training module
  • Self-assessment
  • Creating an individualized professional development plan (IPDP)

New Directors Orientation provides an overview to new ECI program directors on topics such as legislation and rules, guiding principles, fiscal matters, steps in service, personnel standards, quality assurance, compliance monitoring, communications, interagency partnership, State Systemic Improvement Plan, families, mentoring, and data. This module is regularly updated with additional information.

EIS credentialing is a self-paced process for certifying early intervention specialists (EISs) employed with Texas ECI contractors.

Family Centered Case Management Training for Service Coordinators is required for service coordinators to provide case management services for families.

Coaching Families provides foundational information on the coaching approach to service delivery in early intervention. Knowledge and skills are developed through video demonstration, guided practice and interactive activities using coaching tools.

Keys to Successful Supervision is a training module designed for supervisors that introduces basic concepts of supervision and moves the learner to advanced, evidence-based methods of supervision.

Global Child Outcomes helps ECI service providers:

  • Understand the three global child outcomes;
  • Assess children for functional skills for each outcome; and
  • Assign ratings for each outcome.

Family Cost Share helps ECI contractor staff prepare for a conversation with families about Family Cost Share.

Service Coordination/Case Management Resources is a resource page that provides Texas ECI service coordinators with information and tools on service coordination, case management and target case management (TCM).

Home Visiting Safety (PDF) presents techniques and information for early intervention providers to protect themselves during service delivery visits in the community.

Webinars are one- to two-hour trainings that address key topics in quality early intervention service provision. Webinars may be live or recorded.
