Clinton cares. That is the overriding mission of a newly formed group in town called the Clinton Community Assistance Team (CCAT). A unique partnership between Clinton Town Departments, non-profits, and businesses, these groups have joined together to help and assist Clinton’s senior population. Clinton Police Department, Clinton Human Services, Clinton Rotary Club, Families Helping Families, People’s United Bank, and UR Community Cares have all committed to find ways to improve the lifestyles of the town’s seniors.

A team of volunteers have been trained and are helping to provide some basic services to seniors. All volunteers and people requesting services have had background checks through UR Community Cares to ensure complete confidence for both the volunteer and the person receiving services

Such things like picking up groceries, changing light bulbs and mowing the lawn are just a few of the tasks the CCAT team will perform. Providing companionship and checking in on people to make sure all is well are other vital services that will be offered.

Although the volunteers are already out helping in the Clinton community, a formal launch was held Aug. 18 at the Clinton Police Department Headquarters. People wishing to volunteer can visit URCommunityCares.org or call 860-430-4537, David Melillo at Clinton Human Services 860-669-1103, or Vincent DeMaio at Clinton Police Department at 860-669-0451.
