Assistance League of Chaves County celebrated the completion of its 60th year on May 14 at the chapter house at 2601 Aspen.

Highlights included installation of 15 officers for 2021-22, presentation of scholarships to seven high school senior recipients, and the announcement that, even during this year of hybrid classes, its signature Operation School Bell program was able to provide new clothing, hygiene kits and books for nearly 200 K-8 children referred by area school personnel.

Funding for this and other programs comes from membership dues, the Assistance League Thrift Shop at 100 N. Union Ave., and donors.
