SA’s Haven for Hope offering assistance to homeless population amid colder temperatures - KSAT San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – As the region is expecting to see a drop in temperatures this weekend, homeless shelters and services in San Antonio are working to assist those in need.

Haven for Hope outreach volunteers have already taken to the streets to provide comfort and warmth.

According to Monica Garcia, outreach director for the shelter, Haven for Hope is projecting to aid up to 150 people.

All clients that visit the shelter will be able to sleep indoors and will be given additional clothing, including warm jackets, according to city leaders.

Kenneth Wilson, president and CEO of Haven for Hope, said, “The pandemic has been an immense challenge for us and everyone else. It’s been a unique challenge for us. We’ve had to really adjust our operation and we’ve kept our residents and our staff very safe. We’ve had very little infection here. We’re very grateful for that.”

Have for Hope representatives are encouraging those in need of shelter to seek their facility who will be operating 24/7 while also adhering to safety precautions set in place amid the public health crisis.
