CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Coral Springs’ application process for residents to apply for housing assistance closed out as quickly as it opened up on Monday morning.
Within minutes of going live, the city website handling the processing reached maximum applicants of 100 and closed off.
Residents applying for a share of the $502,500 in assistance saw this message on the website:
“We apologize for the inconvenience. Should additional funding become available, the rental assistance program may re-open and information will be published on our website.”
The housing assistance was offered to residents hit hard financially by the Covid-19 crisis on a first-come, first-serve basis through Florida’s Coronavirus Relief Funds.
The money will be used for rental and mortgage assistance for those who have experienced a loss of income, reduction in hours, or unemployment as a direct result of the economic meltdown related to the coronavirus, officials said.
