Seahawks could still target Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon for receiver help, per report - CBS Sports

The Seattle Seahawks have stayed relatively quiet during the 2020 NFL offseason, making Greg Olsen and Phillip Dorsett their most notable additions of the free agent period. More "star power" could be on the horizon for Seattle, however, specifically at the wide receiver position. According to ESPN Radio's John Clayton, both Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon could be on the Seahawks' radar this summer, with Brown apparently a personal favorite of quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson, whose desire for offensive help propelled the Seahawks to add Olsen and Dorsett, "would love" for the team to pursue Brown, per Clayton. The former longtime Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, who hasn't played since being cut by the New England Patriots early in 2019, is reportedly also close with Wilson's backup, Geno Smith, who just recently re-signed with the Seahawks. If general manager John Schneider even explored the possibility, Clayton said, it likely wouldn't be until late July or August.

Gordon, on the other hand, already has experience in the Seattle system after spending five games with the Seahawks in 2019. The 29-year-old former Pro Bowler, who just applied for reinstatement from an indefinite NFL suspension, was claimed off waivers by the Patriots last November and started one game opposite rookie D.K. Metcalf before drawing the fifth substance-abuse suspension of his polarizing career. The Seahawks "would be interested" in Gordon if he's reinstated, per Clayton, and the veteran wideout apparently enjoyed his time in Seattle enough to return.

It's safe to say, of course, that neither Brown nor Gordon would be the most reliable starting-caliber addition to Seattle's lineup. Brown, who was jettisoned by three different teams in 2019, remains under investigation by the NFL for numerous off-field incidents. Gordon, meanwhile, hasn't played a full season in eight years and has been traded twice since 2018, multiple times facing indefinite bans from the league as a result of a years-long struggle with substance abuse.
