Resuming in-person work can be a daunting landscape for businesses to navigate. To help provide guidance, Tampa General Hospital is launching a new consulting service that will help walk businesses through reopening safely.
“As an academic medical center, we already have the experts and the infrastructure in place to be able to advise organizations and businesses on how they can improve safety,” John Couris, CEO of Tampa General Hospital, said.
One focus of the “TGH Prevention Response Outreach” program is aimed at ensuring employees are safe.
The hospital previously worked with the Florida Aquarium when it reopened partially May 15, reviewing its safety plan, visiting the site and considering its exhibits and habitats.
“We had developed a comprehensive plan for safely re-opening and safeguarding our guests, staff and animals, but given the seriousness of the virus, we felt it was our responsibility to seek a second opinion," Roger Germann, CEO of The Florida Aquarium, said earlier this month.
Among the program’s suggestions for the aquarium were ensuring that visitors be required to wear masks, having visitors use every other sink when washing their hands in bathrooms, opting for paper towels to dry hands instead of air hand dryers to reduce any airborne spread, installing barriers or closing certain areas to reduce people coming into close contact with one another and limit the number of riders in elevators.
The program, Tampa General said, draws on expertise from its infectious disease physicians, infection prevention experts and the hospital’s private practice physicians who work with infectious disease.
