Assistance sought tracking murder, kidnapping suspects: Moreland Hills Police Blotter - cleveland.com

MORELAND HILLS, Ohio

Departmental information: Miles Road

Eastern police departments were advised around 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 9 to be on the lookout for a car possibly involved in the kidnapping, torture and murder of a Cleveland woman, 22, whose body was found in a burned-out house in East Cleveland.

The notice was put out by Solon police looking for a silver, older model, four-door sedan, with a possible transfer of red paint on the right front bumper, last seen heading east on Miles from Harper Road and through Moreland Hills.

As of Nov. 15, six people had been arrested, four of those indicted and police were still looking for at least one more suspect.

Suspicion: Fircrest Lane

A resident called about a younger woman, possibly 18 and disoriented, arriving at their door around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 13 looking for a neighbor’s house whose name the caller did not recognize. Although the person she was looking for did live in Moreland Hills, it was unclear if her home was on that street.

She was wrapped in a blanket and wearing pajamas, then started walking toward South Woodland Road. Police reported 15 minutes later that they had the woman in the car and were trying to figure out where she was trying to go.

Suspicion: Lochspur, Pebblebrook lanes

A caller reported that an unknown man was attempting to get into a green electrical box at 7:23 p.m. on Nov. 8. Police checked the area and could not locate any suspect.

Theft: Wiltshire Road

Police responded to a report of a theft of an unspecified sign by a resident shortly after 9 a.m. on Nov. 10.

Unwanted guest: Hiram Trail

A resident believed to still have a temporary protection order filed against him reported late on Nov. 9 that there was a woman in his driveway refusing to leave, although the subject was not his estranged wife with the TPO. The woman in question then left before police arrived, but called to report that she thought the estranged wife was in the house.

Police noted there were no suspicious cars in the driveway at that time, and planned to pay special attention to the area overnight.

Squad call: Chagrin Boulevard

Police and a Pepper Pike rescue squad arrived at Moreland Hills Elementary School around 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 10 for a report of a woman who was experiencing blurred vision at the time. She was taken to a local hospital and it was unclear if she was a school employee.
