Many of Michigan’s summer birds may already be flying south for the winter, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of ways that birds can keep brightening our days.
According to MI Birds, a public outreach program created by Audubon Great Lakes and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, this transitional season between fall and winter is a great time to see waterfowl on Michigan’s open water, as well as migrating and overwintering birds like the dark-eyed junco, white-throated sparrow and red-breasted nuthatch in woodlands and grasslands.
