Are you a business that wants to showcase your maple event, product, food, or activity? Sign up for this year’s Maple 100, which is designed to promote all the various ways to enjoy Vermont maple. The Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets is partnering with the Department of Tourism and Marketing to create a robust array of maple-related activities, products, tastings, and outdoor events for Vermonters and tourists alike. The Maple 100 will run from mid-September to mid-October. Deadline to Sign Up: August 6 VT-FEED is hosting a series of farm to school workshops at farms across Vermont during the first two weeks of August. Designed for school nutrition professionals, these workshops will celebrate the connections between local food, farms and school meals. Attendees will have an opportunity to work with fresh produce from the farm to prepare new menu items for use in the national school lunch program. Workshops are free for school nutrition professionals, who will earn three hours of Professional Standard Credits. Registration is required.

The Ag Enhancement grant, offered three times a year, is intended to support programs, projects, events and other activities that enhance agriculture, commercial fishing and the forest products industry throughout New England, New York and New Jersey. Grant awards range between $500 and $10,000. Applicants must clearly demonstrate long-term positive effects on the agriculture, forest products or the commercial fishing industries. Impacts must extend beyond individual businesses.  Next Deadline to Apply: August 1 The University of Vermont Extension was recently awarded $224,178 to help provide vaccine information and outreach to rural or medically underserved populations, including migrant and seasonal agricultural workers in Vermont. The funding will enable UVM Extension to launch an educational campaign in Spanish and English, which will share information and resources on COVID-19 and other adult immunizations and related health benefits.
