Aly Raisman turns to social media to help find her missing dog - ESPN

jemputjembut.blogspot.com

In a welcome change of pace, social media came together for a good cause over the past week: helping three-time Olympic gold-medalist Aly Raisman find her dog.

While most of us were celebrating the July Fourth holiday with cookouts and good vibes, the legendary gymnast was experiencing a pet owner's worst nightmare as she frantically searched for her lost companion.

According to a tweet by Raisman, her dog, Mylo, ran away as fireworks were going off in the Seaport District of Boston on July 3.

The next day, Raisman posted a flyer on social media and encouraged others to spread the word to help her reunite with her pup.

Before we go any further, it feels important for me to share a disclaimer that this story is one with a happy ending -- as I know dog lovers are probably already sufficiently stressed out by what they've read above.

Now that we've all collectively exhaled, here's how Raisman's agonizing search continued through the week:

On the afternoon of July 7, the 27-year-old shared that there had been four possible sightings in Southie but said she still hadn't found Mylo.

That night, a distraught Raisman made it clear her search continued.

Then, on July 9, a miracle happened ... Mylo was found!

Apparently the heroes who reunited Mylo and the gymnast had no idea a dog was missing when they sprang into action.

But the positive impact of social media and the Boston community pulling together during Raisman's search cannot be overstated.

As they say, all's well that ends well.
