Trump approves disaster assistance for Hurricane Zeta victims in Mississippi - KNOE

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The New Year could be off to a good start for the state of Mississippi, which recently received approval for relief for counties impacted by Hurricane Zeta.

On Friday, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) announced that President Donald Trump had approved the governor’s request for individual and public assistance for those affected by the October 28 storm.

“I want to thank President Trump for approving my request … Homeowners, local governments and business owners in the declared counties can start the new year rebuilding from this storm,” said Gov. Tate Reeves.

Public assistance was approved for eight counties: George, Greene, Jackson, Hancock, Harrison, Perry, Stone, and Wayne.

Individual assistance was approved for George, Greene, Jackson, Hancock, Harrison, and Stone.

With the approval, residents and business owners in those six counties who sustained losses can apply for assistance by visiting disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1 (800) 621-FEMA or 1 (800) 462-7585 for those who are hearing or speech impaired.
