Are you happy like me that we live in one of the safest cities in Colorado and the country? I hope so, because you have good reasons to feel that way.
Would you rather live with anger and anarchy or within a relatively safe, friendly and cooperative environment? I’ll take the latter.
The crime rates in other Front Range cities are higher than they are here, and citizens are less safe in them.
You and I deserve to be able to feel safe in our home and in our city.
We are fortunate that our elected city officials place a high value and priority on your and my safety and that of our families. They expect a highly trained police department that has higher standards for officers with more training than most other departments, as do you.
That’s one reason the Loveland PD is one of only 5% of law enforcement agencies nationwide that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and has been since 1992. We want our department to function at a higher level, which is one reason our commission exists.
The Loveland Police Citizens Advisory Board serves as a liaison between your City Council and the PD. As fellow citizens, we bring your perspectives to both groups to help them meet your needs more efficiently and effectively.
Our professional Loveland Police Officers are better screened and better trained than officers in most other departments, and we want them to receive even more training as you probably do as well.
That’s one reason we have supported the body cameras for officers and the establishment of the Northern Colorado Law Enforcement Training Center at the airport.
We also promoted the continued growth of the School Resource Officer program in our schools to help our children be able to attend school in a safer more secure environment.
Everything the PD and our board does is with your safety and welfare in mind.
That’s why we need your help and support.
Ask yourself these questions: Why am I safe and why do I feel safe in the city of Loveland?
Professional police officers with the two trained mental health clinicians embedded with them in the Co-Responder Program are one big reason why.
The city is asking for a 1% sales tax increase in the next election with only a part of it going to support public safety, which includes both the fire and police departments.
Your support will help increase the training for our professional police officers and help keep Loveland the safe city you want for yourself and your family.
Thank you for supporting your public safety.
