HELP Clinic receives financial assistance grant - Newnan Times-Herald

The HELP Spay Neuter Clinic has been awarded a grant to provide financial assistance to help low-income pet owners in Newnan pay for spay/neuter surgeries.

The $1,000 Rachael Ray Save Them All COVID-19 Relief Grant was awarded through the Best Friends Animal Society.

The HELP Clinic is a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic that is affiliated with the Newnan Coweta Humane Society.

The clinic often offers financial assistance but hasn’t been able to offer any recently. Financial assistance covers some of the cost for Newnan families, but doesn’t make the surgery free.

“This grant allows us to continue our lifesaving work by helping us support Newnan low-income families, which is central to our organization’s mission as we serve our community,” said Clinic Manager Cindy Leopard. “In this uncertain time, our goal will be to serve as many dogs and cats as we were on track to serve prior to the pandemic. We are grateful to our community for their support and appreciate the help from Best Friends Animal Society in supporting our financial assistance program for Coweta pet owners.

The clinic is an active partner in the Best Friends Network, which offers resources and support to fellow shelters, rescue groups and animal welfare organizations across the country.

“When you choose to spay/neuter, foster or adopt your next pet, you are becoming part of the solution right here in our community,” Leopard said. “And community is more important than ever right now.”

The Rachel Ray Save Them All COVID-19 Relief Program provides COVID-19 relief grants to shelters and rescue groups across the country. The foundation helps animals in need and is funded by a portion of the proceeds from each sale of Ray’s pet food, Nutrish.

Financial assistance is available to those receiving SSI, disability, food stamps or WIC, or with proof of low income.

Information about the clinic, monthly specials, how to donate or the schedule for free transportation to surrounding counties can be found at www.helpspayneuter.org .
