ELIZABETH, NJ — A partnership between the Elizabeth Public Library, Make the Road NJ and Planned Parenthood is bringing virtual support for people who still need to apply for health insurance through the New Jersey State marketplace.
Residents can sign-up for a time slot up until the open enrollment period ends January 31. An expert will help with the enrollment process as well as deciding on which health insurance plan is the best fit.
Assistance is available three days a week: Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m, Tuesdays from 3-7 p.m. and Thursday mornings 10 a.m. to 12 p.m and afternoons 3-7 p.m.
When searching for a plan the factors to consider include doctors covered, eligibility for financial support, annual healthcare costs and monthly premium payments. Annual household income and number of dependents will affect these numbers.
While the open enrollment period extends to January 31, in order to be covered at the start of the new year residents must be registered by December 31. Enrollment assistance is available for first timers and re-enrollers. Residents can select to automatically re-enroll each year; however, the pricing and coverages change every year. Similarly, if the household income or number of dependents changes the application must also be updated.
