WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- Family, friends and co-workers are rallying around a Johnston City woman seriously injured in an car crash.
Carmen Colson was thrown from her SUV Friday night after going off the side of the roadway. Then overturning "several times" off Route 166 at Atlanta Lane, just west of Creal Springs.
Loved ones tell News 3 the 30-year-old is now in stable condition, but her injuries will require further medical attention and rehab.
To help, several fundraiser have kicked off including one at Rob's Pit BBQ in Carterville. Cady McCombs, who is the manager, says they want to show support in her time of need.
"We are like family, we talk every day whether we're at work or not, we're here for each other," McCombs explains. "We just wanna help her out, we wanna help her little boy out, we just want to make sure that she will be financially okay through this."
Rob's Pit BBQ is collecting donations and selling #CARMENSTRONG T-shirts.
Another local restaurant is also stepping up to help. Salomon Aguilar, a longtime friend who works at La Fiesta in Marion, says they too want to pitch in.
"We're trying to do a fundraiser for her, see if we can help out a little bit, for her and her family," adds Aguilar.
La Fiesta is giving a portion of all sales from Saturday, February 6 to help support Colson.
There is also a GoFundMe page set up with organizer Chelsy Dwyer writing,
"As most know, Carmen is a single mother too (of) a wonder son named Silas, whom is her world. She is not going to be able to work for quite some time, but we all know the Bill's wont stop."
