With the coronavirus pandemic refusing to yield and the holidays at hand, it’s clear that scores of local people continue giving their all to help their fellow residents in the South Bay and Long Beach areas during.
So Southern California News Group is looking for folks who are going above and beyond during these unprecedented times.
We know many of the folks who devote time and energy to helping others operate behind the scenes and don’t seek the spotlight. So we’re asking readers to help us find them for our upcoming “Pandemic-Era Heroes” series. Help us tell the stories of these deserving people.
Scores of front-line workers remain tirelessly devoted to treating infected people. But they aren’t the only ones keeping our world functioning during the crisis.
Others are working to keep pace with thousands of people seeking tests. Teachers are finding creative ways to keep students engaged during remote learning. Supermarket workers are keeping stores stocked with essential goods. Outreach workers and volunteers are trying to find shelter for people without homes, especially those most-vulnerable to the virus.
There are many more.
We hope to profile these folks and share their selfless efforts.
If you know such a hero, please send a note to Chris Haire, city editor of the Press-Telegram and Daily Breeze, at chaire@scng.com. Please share your phone number and, if you can, contact information for your nominee. Please place “Pandemic-Era Heroes” in the subject line.
The deadline to nominate someone is Dec. 1.
Questions? Please share them.
Thank you in advance for your help. And stay healthy out there.
