Maryland State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the person suspected of a hit-and-run pedestrian crash Sunday in Howard County.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Waterloo Barrack and Howard County Department of Fire Rescue Services responded to the area of Interstate 95 South and the rest area on a report of a pedestrian-involved crash.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 35-year-old female had been struck by a vehicle as she attempted to cross southbound I-95 in the area of the rest area to get to the northbound rest area. The pedestrian was struck in the left lane. The striking vehicle failed to remain at the scene, according to investigators. Troopers identified the suspect vehicle as a possible black Jeep Cherokee.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of her injuries. The case remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
